The Scientific Committee of ESG.IAMA has been formed and will be officially presented to the public on November 18, on the reserved day of salone.SRI 2024, at the Italian Stock Exchange.
The world of finance faces a phase of great change and entropy. Most products on the market claim to be “sustainable,” and ESG ratings are discordant. Credibility cannot disregard the ESG Identity of the entities, thus the Asset Manager itself, which must be consistent with the fund offerings. To do this, it is necessary to assess the Asset Manager as a company, it is necessary to know every aspect of it, from governance, board and policy, to investment processes, engagement, voting, and finally to the offering.
The ESG.IAMA (ESG Identity Asset Manager Assessment) project, developed by ET.Group since 2022, is the first global standard for assessing the ESG Identity of Asset Managers and, in its third edition, aims to become the international standard of reference, available to the system (Asset Owners, Pension Institutions, Banking Networks, Foundations and Corporations) to assess the sustainability of Asset Managers.
To achieve these goals, ET.Group has brought together high-profile representatives from academia, finance and industry, and promoted the establishment of the ESG.IAMA Scientific Committee to act as an authoritative guarantor of the standard’s principles of independence and consistency, and to validate the results and perform advisory functions for the further development of the methodology and the overall project. It is identified in the figure deliberated by Assofondipensione, the reference entity for Italian negotiated pension funds and the first user of the ESG.IAMA standard, the Chairman of the Scientific Committee, Riccardo Realfonzo, Coordinator of the Technical Committee of Assofondipensione, chairman of the Fondo Perseo Sirio, full professor of Economics and Policy of Monetary and Financial Markets, director of various projects and writer of several books and more than 100 papers in international scientific journals.
Also composing the Scientific Committee of ESG.IAMA are:
– Margherita Bianchini, Assonime
– Innocenzo Cipolletta, AIFI
– Sergio Corbello, Assoprevidenza
– Massimo Giusti, Forum per la Finanza Sostenibili
– Manuela Mazzoleni, Assogestioni
– Alessandra Pasquoni, ANIA
‘ESG.IAMA‘ – commented Realfonzo – ‘is an innovative project at the international level that makes it possible to have a synthetic tool finally able to measure, through a very rich and articulated matrix of indicators, the actual nature of financial managers in terms of sustainability in all its declinations. So, not only the products they offer but also the consistency between the corporate design of the managers themselves, their ESG Identity, and these products. The authoritative Scientific Committee that I will have the honor of chairing will have the task of making the methodology used for the questionnaire and its calculation algorithm increasingly accurate, consistent and rigorous, making its indications transparent and public, and also suggesting processes and techniques for controlling the data‘.
